Yee-ha! Netscape 6 is out. Now, I know what you are thinking… what’s the big deal, eh? Well, Netscape 6 is built around a completely different core, it’s fast, small and is standardized, so no need for multiple browsers! This thing is only a 5.5 meg download, too! So, go here. If you want the small download, go through the Custom setup and uncheck all that extraneous crap like the Instant Messenger and Composer. I’m so happy! If that makes me a geek, the so be it! (I’m so lonely… hehe)

  3. Yeah, I downloaded it. I installed it. I said `What the fu*k?`
The thing takes forever to load. Once it’s loaded, the UI is horrible. I tried using the mail client..BIG mistake. The mail client is buggy as an insectorium. I would have uninstalled it, but it doesn’t come with uninstall capability. You can’t even use

IE may be a tool of the Devil, but at least the damn thing works. I guess this is just a side affect of AOL’s involvement.

  5. Here’s a tip for anybody posting here…DO NOT TRY TO USE DOUBLE-QUOTES IN YOUR TEXT! You end up posting 3 or 4 partial messages and looking like a total boob. Well, it’s probably not that far from the truth.

  6. Well, Kev-bo, it is a preview release after all… i’m just happy that it is smaller and quicker than it was.
Oh, and sorry about the double quotes.. i’m working on that…

  8. Kevin McCarty, database administrator at Aperture Credentialing. Normally, a very intelligent man… however, he has been known to burn himself repeatedly while trying to get a piece of bread out of a hot toaster.

  9. ok. I watched a documentary on the Netscape coders last night. They seem like actual people to me now. Consider this my public apology to Netscape. I’ll try version 6 at home. If it craps out there, I’ll wait for the final release. If THAT craps out, then I’ll start bitching again.

  10. Well, it is in a very beta pre-release, and i think they prbably released it for two reasons: a) real world feedback b) to stop the bleeding from IE 5.0. I think that the final will be something to behold, hopefully.
