JW Onyx

The "JW" Onyx is my first "molded" sailplane - meaning that the wing is a hollow sandwich of carbon fiber, kevlar and fiberglass. The "JW" version of the Onyx is the same Onyx fuselage with a wing at least in part designed by Joe Wurts, an R/C soaring legend. Talking with Joe at the 2007 US NATS F3J competition, and seeing him get a few launches with his JW Onyx, he says it's a very, very strong wing and one of the best landing planes he's flown.

I got my JW Onyx (#14) through SoaringUSA, with help by winning the 2006 OVSS Rookie of the Year Award.
